Top 3 Brady Moments
Streetcar
Streetcar out of all the 3 lectures had to have been my favorite. From the timeline, the story took place to the amazing characters it had. Delusion versus Reality is the theme of the story and it's not just Blanche that goes through this struggle but Stella too. The struggle to remain sane in such challenging situations is not only a problem the characters faced but also one we face too. To be honest I didn't really read the story but instead watched the movie as I am more of a visual learner. But something I took out of the movie is how real it feels. Nowadays we are used to seeing characters travel literal universes from one minute to the other. In this movie, everything took place under one roof, so you almost feel a personal connection to the environment and mood of the scenes.
Antigone
Antigone was the first story we read but one of the last to leave my heart. I remember the first week we began to read the story, I was so lost and didn't want to even think about the work that needed to be done for it. Then the second week came around and I began to want to learn about what was going on as I would hear about some girl rising up against a king and changing the way all the people of city thought. So I then began to read it and watched many YouTube videos on it and instantly feel in love. Not only was it just a nice little story to read but it is also something that can be applied to the real world. Antigone being strong and loyal to her beliefs and going against the tyrannical government which is in this case is Creon. Many believed in Antigone but where to scared to act as they feared the consequences like Ismene. Creon tried to neglect his wrong doings and wanted Antigone gone and at times it felt like their would be nothing that can be done to stop him. But only when his son Haemon kills himself can we see Creon fall and repent his actions. This is something we see in our world too. People in power either corporate or Government refuse to listen to the people until they are directly put into danger. The ones that stay silent live a life of misery and regret but the ones that stand for what is true, are the ones that re-write history.
Now for this one, I do not have a specific lecture or story to talk about. Instead, I want to talk about all of the fishbowls we ever did as a whole. When I first heard of doing a fishbowl I was confused as I thought we were literally gonna be acting like fish. I know that doesn't even make sense but at that point, I was not really sure what to expect. But when we had our first fishbowl in the first classroom, I realized how smart it was. When it came to all my other classes it was just show up listen and leave. I literally wouldn't even know the name of the person who sat next to me. But with the fishbowls I not only got to learn everyone's names but I felt like I was in a room with actual people and not just robots. I also got to get rid of my nerves when it came to talking in front of other people. I truly felt that I learned how to be a better thinker and speaker and I know that it will help me in my professional life.
CANNOT WAIT!!!
